8th Graders Volunteer at Sheshan Astronomical Observatory

On October 15th, six students from SHSID volunteered as guides at the Shanghai Astronomical Museum. Although the weather wasn’t cooperating, the drizzle and wind couldn’t damped our students’ enthusiasm.

After passing Songjiang District’s "Sheshan Summit", Shanghai’s only really big hill, we arrived at the destination: the Sheshan Astronomical Observatory. There, you can learn about history of about Chinese astronomy. Ms. Zhou from the museum’s planetarium provided gave the students a tour of the museum and taught them as they went. First taught them about astronomy in modern China and then about telescopes in general. After couple of hours experience, the students learned a lot.

This was an unforgettable experience for all the students. They were surprised by how much fun you can have learning about the stars!
