Grades 7-8: Sports Meet
Grades 7-8: Sports Meet
On Tuesday, October 10th, the annual sports meet of 7th and 8th Grade took place in SHSID. During the opening ceremony the students performed their class sport. There was basketball, golf, rope jumping, and so on.
After a series of performances, Director Ni gave a riveting speech and the sports representatives swore an oath. Then the school wind band gave an exceptional show which was followed by a fantastic performance from the cheerleaders. At the end of the opening ceremony, there was a completely unexpected but nonetheless brilliant Chinese-style performance from the Grade 7 and 8 teachers which blew the students away. Then, Principal Liu announced the start of the sports meet!
The sun was beating down on the athletes, but they never stopped trying, whether it was for medicine ball challenge or the long jump. There were students who dared to try running the 800-meter run, and others who powered through the finals of the 100-meter sprint.
The sports meets ended with a bang, with the men’s and women’s relay race having both 8th graders and teachers battling side by side. The finals of the tug-of-war ended with a breathtaking tug-of-war between the students and the teachers. Through participating in sports meet, some students learned how to cooperate with their fellow classmates, while some learned how to use their power. But mostly importantly, they all learned the spirit of perseverance and good sportsmanship.
