Primary School: My Beetles Exhibition

A group of special guests were invited to the Primary School right after the October break. They taught our students a great deal about science, even though they didn’t talk or move!

They were beetles! 42 boxes of beetles came to SHSID’s Pudong Campus from the Shanghai Entomological Museum, and set up a new home in our hallways and classrooms. Every break time you could find our little students gathered around these specimens and talking about them.

Our students of every grade have all been learning about insects these days, from their body structures and camouflages to their metamorphoses. These special guests were no doubt an enrichment of the materials they have been studying and an excellent chance for them to have a peek at some cool rare species.

The butterfly cards prepared by the museum brought our exhibition to an exciting close. You can imagine how excited our students- who always spend their lunch recess looking for ladybugs and roly-polies all over the campus- were when they had the chance to get so close to the insects!

This was a very short exhibition but a very great enrichment to our Science classes. Thank you, Shanghai Entomological Museum!
