High School History & English Get Cross-Disciplinary!

On the afternoon of October 13th, SHSID’s High School English and History teachers gathered in the Xianmian Building to consider how to build more cross-disciplinary integration between the High School English and History Departments. In the discussion that ensued, the teachers exchanged basic course information and floated various interesting ideas on how to create deeper class-crossover for their students. Joshua Pickart of the History department recommended, for example, taking time in History class to examine historical literary figures such as Cicero and Laozi. Jonathon Roberts of the English department suggested borrowing History department resources on ‘Identifying Reliable Sources’, to improve his English students’ research and citation skills. At the end of the meeting, every teacher walked away the wiser.
