Pudong Grade 3—Did you receive my “I” Message?
Pudong Grade 3—Did you receive my “I” Message?
During PG class, the 3rd graders of Pudong campus learned how to send their ‘I’ Message. This ‘I’ Message is not an iPhone message! Instead, this is the important message you are supposed to “send” when you have a conflict with another person.
Homeroom teachers in 3rd grade are trying to teach students the way to settle arguments and problems by their own before they look for help from the teachers. This is a learning process. The students are now mature enough to begin learning to solve conflicts independently.
To start with, the teachers played a video to show what an ‘I’ Message is. Then they showed specifically the template for sending an ‘I’ Message. First, you should tell how you feel to the student who offended you, then tell the reason and make the request. For example, if Jerry tripped you, you should tell Jerry that you feel angry when he tripped you, because this was very dangerous and impolite, at last, you should ask Jerry not to do that again. Afterwards, all the students talked in pairs about situations where they can use the ‘I’ Message strategy, and practiced through role-play.
