Pudong Grade 3: Fire Safety
Pudong Grade 3: Fire Safety
This week, the 3rd graders of the Pudong campus learned an important life lesson: Fire Safety. All the students participated thoroughly in the class!
To start with, the homeroom teachers talked about some common facts regarding fire safety, such as the phone number for Fire Emergency Service, and the different exits on the school map. Then the teachers showed some fire safety tips and discussed the following with the students:
If there is a fire, do not come back to the classroom or try to find your homeroom teachers. You should find the closest exit and walk out to the open area, or follow the closest teacher’s instructions. Furthermore, you shouldn’t grab anything as you are exiting.
During the class, all the students participated very well and asked lots of valuable questions. For example, if they were in the library during the alarm, can they go to the courtyard? They discussed this with their peers and gave their own reasons. Finally, students were asked to design their own fire safety tips drawings to show how much they understood the importance of fire safety. They very carefully colored the drawings, and wrote the tips that they thought were the most important.
During the next day’s fire drill, 3rd graders walked out from the exit in order. They showed what they learned from the class.
