Grade 7: ASB Election and Result

The videos were ready, the students were eager, and the class was about to start.

On Thursday the 14th of September, the ASB election reached its climax. The Associate Student Board, a student association which incorporates student ideas into activities and teaching at SHSID, recruits new people from each year, every year. Due to the pressure that speaking in front of the whole school creates, the teachers have formulated a new way for candidates to campaign— using videos.

Each student who wanted to join the ASB had to prepare a video promoting themselves as a candidate, which would later be shown in every classroom. During the CAS class on Thursday, the teachers showed these videos to the students, who marked who they wished to vote for on a chart. The candidates for 7th grade are Lucy, Sarah, Athena, Winnie, Leonie, Nono, and many others. Some candidates adopted a stance in which they explained their previous achievements and pointed out the advantages that voted for them would offer. Others explained more about their plans and ideas, which could be implemented if they win a place on the ASB. Of course, a few candidates took a humorous approach to the videos, drawing students in through the entertaining qualities of their videos.

You’re worrying about who will win the election? Relax! The latest news is right here: the winners of this election are Lucy, Sarah, Athena, Winnie, Leonie, Eric, Lisa, Max, and Ivan. Although some people didn’t get voted into the ASB, next year holds more opportunities for success. Meanwhile, the new ASB members are now determined to work hard for all of us. Let’s congratulate them on their victory; and of course, we must also look forward to what new and fun ways of learning they can come up with, for this year will definitely be a year unlike the previous.
