Grade 10: Assembly(2)

September 20th, Sophia Chen from 10(1), Tiffany Hung from 10(8), and Britney Zhang from 10(9) introduced Mock Trial Club to their fellow tenth graders during the weekly assembly. The Mock Trial Club is a club that trains students to present and defend their sides of given trial cases, as participants in real trials would do. The three students further explained the different roles involved in Mock Trials, which include lawyers, prosecutors, and witnesses. The lawyers have the chance to refute the other side’s arguments and defend their own sides, while the witnesses can bring emotions and drama to the trials in order to strengthen their sides through pathos. This role-play element helps mock resemble real world trials as much as possible. Lastly, the three students talked the PPMT competition they attended during the summer and discussed the rewards they gained from this valuable experience. They ended their speech by strongly encouraging their fellow students to join the Mock Trial Club.
