Grade 12: Art Exhibition by Amy Wu

The weather on September the 16th was unusually beautiful. Maybe it was just a normal sunny day at the end of a week. Maybe it was foreshadowing the upcoming success of Amy’s art exhibition. Walking along the silent road beside the groves of SHSID, one might approach Amy’s art exhibition.

Amy has had a great interest in art since she was a kid, although she has lived in to several cities and experimented with a few different hobbies along the way. Art is the one unchanging hobby that she has loved and pursued for the last ten years.

The theme of the exhibition is “Divine Comedy: My Story.” The inspiration for this theme came unexpectedly from one of her teacher’s comments: “Your artworks bring an atmosphere of divinity all the way in”. This comment made Amy to think about heaven and a variety of religions. That is also the moment that Amy determined to try a new style of art.

The atmosphere of the exhibition was elegant. At the opening ceremony of the auction, Amy initiated an auction and donated all the money from the auction to a foster institution. Both men and women attend the exhibition with courteous manners. The names of the artwork - “Scream of Hell”, “Struggle” & “Revolution from Hell” etc. - make people to think about the underlying meanings behind those delicate paintings. After leaving the exhibition, they stuck in one’s mind.

Art, “the product of environment, life and our ideas”, can reflect one’s mind and the unconscious thoughts of the things that one longs for. Amy’s artwork shows her unique perspective of the world and a mixture of beautiful objects in her heart.
