Grade 11: “Back to School” Parents’ Meeting
Grade 11: “Back to School” Parents’ Meeting
On the afternoon of September 15th, the “Back to School” Parents’ Meeting hosted by Director Liu Qin kicked off. To begin with, Principal Ma Feng introduced the four dimensions of student development, namely: Virtues & Values, Knowledge & Skills, Practice & Innovation, and Arts & Health. He mentioned that unlike traditional teaching methods, the school also takes into consideration the overall development of students beyond academic performance. He then introduced the new facilities in the Xianmian Building and introduced some of the hot topics on campus.
Next Ms. Zhang Li, a college counselor, briefed students on how to prepare for their college applications over the coming two years. She emphasized the importance of academic performance, standard test scores and extra-curricular activities, with an introduction of the new transcript version and competition opportunities.
The school pays great attention to student-led activities and innovative development as well. Ms. Wu Chen, the Head Teacher of Grade 11, introduced the community service program and various student clubs.
In the end, Director Liu encouraged parents to communicate with their children and help them fully develop their potentials in a timely way. Parents also held a friendly discussion the with homeroom teachers after the meeting. The two-hour meeting was quite fruitful, and hopefully will open up a continuum of two-year efforts that includes parents, teachers and the students themselves.
