Grade 7: Fire Drill

On the 14th of September, Grade 7 held a fire drill. It was a sunny and normal day. Students were told that there would be a fire drill in the afternoon during CAS class. They were very excited and felt ready for the action.

After the first class in the afternoon, the students quickly got back to their classroom and got ready to use water to wet the towels and waiting anxiously in their classrooms. The homeroom teachers had given students name tags.

“If your ‘ID’ card token is taken away, it means you are dead in the fire,” they announced.

When the alarm sounded, all the students ran out of the classrooms through the two emergency exits and the main door, with wet towels covering their mouths and noses. Students were surprised to see that there was real smoke in front of the building. They rushed to the designated evacuation areas: the soccer field, where they lined up in straight lines. Director Mr. Ni checked their condition cards carefully and was satisfied with the quality of their formation. To see if we could do it even better, he told us to practice the fire drill again. This time, we lined up much faster than last time, and every student was rewarded with an ice cream.

Some students said that they wanted to do fire drill every day because then they could get ice cream for free every day, ha-ha. One of our new students said that the fire drill in SHSID was more awesome than those he had experienced in his previous school.

The fire drill was a realistic and exiting experience, because it simulated a real fire accident.
