Grade 9: Lecture about the family connection system

On Thursday, during the last period before lunch, Ms. Zhang Nan was invited to give the Grade 9 students a lecture about the Family Connection system. The family connection system helps students to identify their strengths and weaknesses, to prepare for standardized tests, and to ultimately create a profile for themselves and get into their dream college. The students were listening with extreme care, afraid to miss a single word from the speaker. As the lesson progressed, the freshmen learned more and more about what they are going to encounter during High School life. Aspects such as the GPA, standardized test, extracurricular activities and others are all that they have to start preparing for from now on. To make the lesson more visual and understandable, Ms. Zhang Nan demonstrated the usage of the Family Connection system by showing students how to take quizzes that tells their interest, apply for standardized tests like SAT and ACT, and visually look at their chances of matriculating into a specific college. This amazing speech ended with a sentence, “The college does not want a student that is good at one thing, but rather an intelligent body who excels at everything”! The Grade 9 students, walking out with shock, thought about their college applications and future.
