Opening Ceremony for Grades 5 - 6

On the afternoon of September 1st, the students of grades 5 and 6 were all expecting the opening ceremony to begin. Those who had already found their seats were explaining to their friends what getting prizes feels like. After ten minutes, the Director, Ms. Luo, announced, “The opening ceremony now begins!” The auditorium suddenly became so quiet that you could hear a needle drop on the floor. Everyone was looking at the stage.

First, a fifth grader shared her feelings about the start of school. She looked a little bit nervous, but we found out there was no need for her to be nervous, because she finished the speech smoothly. Then a sixth grader shared her thoughts about the start of school. She said that five years had gone so quickly and now she was all ready for the sixth grade.

After that, Ms. Luo taught us how to tell if we were a good student. The most important point was to be independent and set learning goals. Our Principal, Mr. Liu, also gave us a lot of great advice. Whenever a teacher asked a question the students were all eager to answer. The audience became more and more excited.

Then, it was time to give out prizes. The students quieted themselves down. Those who got a prize walked down to the stage excitedly. They got their prize and took a picture. I could see that they were really very happy.

The one-hour opening ceremony passed like twenty minutes. This was the moment that all the students would never forget.
