Opening Ceremony for Grades 7-8

The 7th and 8th Grade School Year of 2017 was kicked off today. In the opening ceremony, the first speaker up was Warren Wang, representing seventh grade. He talked about how studying was something that could be made enjoyable through a variety of different ways. The second speaker was Penny of 8(3), who talked of her experiences and growth via the ASB and Service Learning groups. The final speaker up was Oliver Ni, from 8(8). The speech he gave detailed his experience in the many competitions he took part in and how he was able to balance them with school work by being more organized and timely. The first speaker from the staff was Mr. Ni, who welcomed the new students into our school, mentioned some of the top performing students, along with their many achievements, and how the school campus should be kept tidy. He also talked about internet safety, lecturing us about how words online are just as harmful as real ones. Finally, he talked of what new responsibilities the new year would bring, like how 8th graders would now give back to the community by taking Service Learning classes. The final speaker of the day was our Principal Mr. Liu, who talked about the importance of independent learning and how deliberate practice was needed when working towards goals. At last, many students went on stage to receive the awards they earned in the previous year because of their excellency in study, social work, behavior, sports and so on.

I hope everyone can have a great new semester!
