A Chemistry Group Meeting for a Good Beginning of the New Semester

On the afternoon of the 28th of August, all teachers of the Chemistry group participated in their first group meeting. Several topics as follows were discussed.

All teachers have made an effort to accomplish their teaching tasks fully and efficiently during the past 2016-2017 school year. The AP and IB grades of students achieved after taking the standard tests were excellent. Starting from the 2017 academic year, the High School section of SHSID will adopt a letter grading method for all the courses except IBDP, which uses the 7-point scale. Also, the 12th Grade of SHSID’s High School section is going to cancel its monthly tests on a trial basis. The High School section of SHSID will now provide students with a Cambridge international A-level course from Grade 11, starting this semester. Project based learning will be provided to students during Grade 9-10 to stimulate the students’ personal interest in our Science and Math courses. Moreover, during their research project the students are going to apply the scientific method and build their research skills through searching resources, performing experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. The chemistry group will continue to apply the Blackboard system to help students review class materials and carry out reflections after class as soon as possible. Student engagement analysis will continue to be part of the formative assessment of students in the High School section.
