Pudong Grade 4: Current Electricity

For the past two months, the 4th grade students have been studying static electricity and current electricity in depth, with multiple activities to help the students understand these everyday processes. Pudong’s 4th grade students were fortunate enough to have lessons from Prof. Krupa Mehta (known to the students as "Ms. Krupa") who taught many years as a university Professor of Electronics in India. The students received two days of instruction from Ms Krupa and were ecstatic to have her back on the 2nd day. Ms Krupa carefully explained the basic components of electrical systems that could be created on a breadboard and gave demonstrations of a touch sensitive circuit, an LED circuit, a motor circuit, and a buzzer circuit. Students reported that building circuits on the breadboard helped them get a more concrete understanding of circuitry and the flow of electricity. Best of all, Ms Krupa was gracious enough to scour local hardware stores to build each student a personal kit for practicing current electricity that they got to take home with instructions to rebuild the circuits learned in class. Bringing in Prof Mehta's expert instruction was, without a doubt, a huge success with the students. We hope to see Prof Mehta next year for another electricity workshop。
