Pudong Grade 3: Solar Ovens

The Grade 3 students have been studying Earth’s Resources, including renewable resources and renewable energy, in Science class. They learned that one source of renewable energy is the sun! To test the power of the sun, they created solar ovens using pizza boxes, aluminum foil, black paper, and tape. They were challenged to use their background knowledge, creativity, and teamwork to complete the STEM challenge of building the solar oven. After the ovens were complete, the students used them to harness the sun’s rays and to cook s’mores, an American treat. It was a tasty challenge!
