Grade 6: Adolescence Lecture
Grade 6: Adolescence Lecture
Most of the children in G6 have been hoping that one day, adults will finally the brains of teenagers. Ms. Zhou, a psychologist, has been studying teenagers in America for many years. In a speech to the students, she introduced her work and what she had learned over the years.
First, she started with little experiments. Three volunteers went up to the stage. One of them holds a banana, and the other two were supposed to catch it. Both of the volunteers succeeded in one try. Ms. Zhou came to a conclusion. If the first one succeeded, the second one would think: if he can do it, I can do it as well. However, if the first did not succeed, the next one would most probably think I can’t do it either. Then, Ms. Zhou talked about relating words. The slide showed these words: Disney, blue dress, ice. Immediately, the students thought of Elsa.
After several other activities with the grade six students, Ms. Zhou also talked about how the emotions of teenagers change during this age, and the desire for relationships begins. Many of the students felt it was a great presentation, and that there may even be a chance that some adults out there can understand them.
Even though most teenagers behave more and more like adults, its true that deep down in our hearts, we are all still kids.
