Puxi Grade 1: Culture Fair

To encourage the Grade 1 students to discover the world and learn more about different countries and cultures, the first grade teachers designed a ‘Culture Fair’ activity for the Social Studies class on May 31st.

All six Grade One classrooms were decorated to introduce the geographic and cultural features of six different countries. They were Belize, Brazil, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Ethiopia. A Powerpoint was set up on the projector screen, a poster made by the teachers was hung on the wall, national flags were hung over the ceiling, and the music of each country echoed across the each classroom. Every first grader was given a “Culture Passport” on these six countries and they needed to finish this passport by discovering all the facts on these countries in this Culture Fair. Later, every student is going to do a Show and Tell about their passport and introduce another new country.

The Culture Fair was a great success. All the students not only learned about different countries but aroused their enthusiasm for exploring this wonderful world.
