Grade 11: Company Visit - Stage Design
Grade 11: Company Visit - Stage Design
During our CAS periods on Wednesday the 24th, the 11th grade students were assigned to visit different companies in groups. A few of us were lucky enough to be granted the opportunity to visit the Shanghai Culture Square to venture further into the world of stage design.
Once we arrived and entered the theater building, we were greeted by its incredible architecture— a rightful home for the world's most celebrated musicals and plays. After being given a brief overview of the theater's history with regards to the performing arts, we were led into the amphitheater. We were awed by the extravagance of the place. The rich reds of the countless rows, the flashing screens of high-tech machinery, and the simple sophistication of the black box—all of it exuded an aura of class and archaic dignity. Once we were given the tour, we were in for the final event on our schedule: the managers sat us down and provided us with a Q&A session, in which they shared their experiences with regards to the world of theater, and, among other things, their past career choices. Once we were finished, we bade the theater and its workers goodbye, and made for the bus.
