Grade 11: Company Visit - INTCO
Grade 11: Company Visit - INTCO
On the afternoon of May 24th, we visited the INTCOFraming company in Fengxian. Although we were aware of its environmental focus, it was still a surprise when we saw all the frames and mirrors in the showroom. These frames seemed irrelevant to idea of the environmental preservation that we had learned about in school. We later understood that INTCO used recycled plastic foam from all over the world to extract the Polystyrene (PS) inside. They used their own technology to reuse the PS and made these decorative and medical products. These products were very light and could substitute the massive demand for wood and marble. We also learned the history of the company and how the CEO achieved success through persistence. In the end, we visited the workshop where they produced the frames. The complicated machines were working beside us and through different processes; one black and printed frame was produced. These products would go on to be sold in Walmart, Target, Sainsbury’s, etc. From this brief visit, we took a glimpse into this industry and learned how the chemistry we are now studying in the school can be applied to the modern industry.
