Grade 6: Native Chinese Reading Contest

The sixth grade Native Chinese reading contest finished in warm applause. In this game, a total of nine students brought us a wonderful reading– sometimes whispering, sometimes bursting with passion. The aesthetic interpretation of the articles led us into a beautiful mood. I had the honor to represent our class in this competition, and was lucky enough to win first prize. Here I am very pleased to share my feelings and experiences.

I like reading aloud, in short essay-articles, but while writing something intriguing and full of truth. I like beautiful essays that excite my mind and help me to resonate with the author.

When I learned I would attend this reading competition, I thought of Francis Bacon's "Of Study" immediately. When I first read this article, that beautiful text just like a symphony caught my mind, into my mind deep. I read and read this beautiful article, until able to recite it by heart, showing my understanding of this article. I recited it with the complement of the music, a delicacy I couldn’t wait to present to the teachers and students. Through the whole process of preparation, I have been excited and happy. I think this is really the fun of reading.
