Grade 11: Company Visit - VR
Grade 11: Company Visit - VR
In order to get an idea of our future career, May 24th, SHSID juniors had visited to several companies. Such as aerospace, virtual reality, banking, environment, hotel management companies and so on. For virtual reality, students visited an exhibition center at DaShiJie.
DaShiJie was established in 1917, initially as an amusement park. Afterwards, it experienced a series of changes first into a youth culture center and then finally into intangible cultural heritage. It was opened again this year after 13 years of reconstruction. Normally, the exhibition center closes on Wednesdays, but the students got the chance to visit this place.
The first thing the students visited was distortion mirror. These distortion mirrors were made in Netherland, and they have guarded the place for a hundred years, giving children fun. There were not only the typical convex and concave mirrors, but more complicated ones.
The main part of the visit was “VR try-out”. Students went into the room, took 3D glasses on, and looked at the projections on the wall, which showed DaShiJie in 1980s. Students were surprised by the 3D technology at first, but there were also negative feedbacks about dizziness the content.
Students were able to get to know how VR worked after trying them out. The secretary-general of ZJVR introduced that VR came to realize through the computer hardware, software, sensor and Internet to produce a virtual world, providing the simulation of vision, audition and feeling, which would make us feel like in this virtual world. This visit to VR Company inspired and amazed some students. It was a great opportunity for all of us to take part in such event.
