Grade 6: Our Eyes Planted in the Universe
Grade 6: Our Eyes Planted in the Universe
We are used to using our eyes to observe the world, but the world we see is only a tiny part of the universe. There are lights that can’t be seen with our naked eyes, but with the help of detecting instruments, we can be exposed to more of this fascinating universe. These instruments allow us to observe our beautiful world, learn how the weather changes, and understand which direction the ocean is moving, all by using cameras which can see infrared light. This was the climax of our technology week this semester, when Professor Kuang Dingbo, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with his team, gave us an amazing lecture. Profound knowledge about meteorological watching was taught in a simple but interesting way to us by the scientists. We paid all of our attention and our questions were answered patiently, one by one. We feel that their job is mysterious and full of grandeur. I believe that many students are already interested in learning more about this field, or even becoming a scientist! Although Professor Kuang Dingbo is already more than 80 years old, he is still in good health and was willing to take photos and even sign our notebooks! We are truly thankful for the scientists for giving us a rare opportunity to listen to such an unforgettable lecture!
