Grades 7-8: We rule the USAP

In February, four teams of 6-9 students each from SHSID competed in USAP China. Out of more than 40 teams, two teams from our school successfully won the tickets to the USAP Finals.

The USAP Finals took place in Minneapolis. The two teams coached by Ms. Shen and Ms. Yan and the four individual students departed on May 17th and returned on May 22nd. The competition was focused on the topic of World War II, and tested on the subjects of Literature, Fine Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. This competition tested the students on completely different aspects, which helped them improve on their overall scores.

It was the first time students from China have been invited to the USAP Finals. Despite this, they did well and won many prizes for SHSID.

The 8th grade team attained the third place for the international division team awards, while the 7th grade achieved first. In addition, 8th graders got a total of one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal for individual overall, while 7th graders receiving a sum of three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal for overall scores.

Let us congratulate the students who worked hard preparing for the competition. This event not only teaches us knowledge, but also skills such as leadership, responsibility, time management, and group work. USAP, see you next year!
