Middle School Creative Programs: A Hundred Flowers in Bloom
Middle School Creative Programs: A Hundred Flowers in Bloom
Over recent years, SHSID’s Middle School has established a series of creative courses and clubs for its students with the goal of expanding their creativity, craftsmanship, and experimental abilities. Programs such as the biology workshop, creative writing, creative art, music composition, future city design, mobile programming, 3D printing, Lego robots, Arduino, and K’nex provide a platform for students to expand their interests as well as see things from a broader perspective.
The Biology workshop club strongly encourages its members to participate in scientific experiments, which result in a renewed understanding of the basics of science. Under the guidance of the teachers, students from our school have won many prizes won from the Shanghai Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Competition. The Lego Robot club, with their abundance and varieties of materials, provides opportunities for members to design, enhance, and create robots that will be beneficial to future society. The K’nex club members were able to merge multiple items together to form beautiful 3D-models. These genius students also acquired the championship trophy in the prestigious Shanghai STEMx competition.
The Chinese and English creative writing club features many different styles of literature that its members are all welcome to try. Exemplary works will also be published in a magazine, which is no small feat! The music composition club allows students to stretch their creativity and musical talent into constructing new and harmonious melodies. Following the theme of artistic and musical talent, SHSID’s creative art club allows its members to explore new techniques and styles, resulting in two or three exceptional works per person.
And finally one may ask, “after hearing about all of these wonderful clubs, is there any way to visit all of them at once?” The answer is: yes. On May 25th, the school will be hosting its annual Science Carnival complete with remarkable displays from each innovative club as well as a highly anticipated surprise performance. As the highlight of 2017, the Science Carnival will showcase the students’ unique ideas as well as shine light on their talents and creativity. On May 25th, this Thursday, SHSID awaits you!
