Grade 8: A voice to lead - "Music for Patients" International Nurse Day Concert
Grade 8: A voice to lead - "Music for Patients" International Nurse Day Concert
On May 12th, in the season of blooming flowers, SHSID’s 8th Grade “Music for Patients” service & learning team once again came to the Shanghai Children's Medical Center to offer a special Nurse Day concert. Mr. Ni Minxue, director of SHSID’s Middle School, and Ms. Zeng Hui, the director of the Nursing Department of Shanghai Children's Medical Center attended the concert and delivered welcome speeches.
With support from SHSID Wind Orchestra, Kingsley Poon and the team members have prepared for this special concert since early May. They selected various classical pieces for the hospital nurses to enjoy, such as Traumeri, Mariage D'Amour, Maiden's Prayer and Swan. The members also specifically prepared some fresh flowers and many pots of small succulent plants together with the greeting cards hand-written by Sammi, Barbie, Helen and Chantel.
With the approval of the hospital management, the team also made a special arrangement to send two violinists, Jerick and Richard, to play inside the CICU Ward. In this world's largest pediatric cardiac ICU, the melody from the two violins brought a peaceful feeling to the seriously-ill and hospitalized children. On behalf of all nurses, Ms. Luo Wenyi, the head nurse expressed her appreciation to the “Music for Patients” team. She told us “This is the first time we invited children and parents the CICU for closer interaction with these critically ill children. We appreciate the opportunity. The music you have played has brought us calm and a peaceful feeling. Many thanks to all the students".
Dedication comes from love and sentiment. The "Music for Patients" team made a great interpretation of the annual International Nurses Day theme, Nursing: A voice to lead. We sincerely thank all the nurses, our life guardians, for their hard work and dedication.
