Grade 11: College Application Lecture

On May 10th, Grade 11 students gathered at the Big Auditorium during the CAS to attend lectures about college interviews and application material preparation. These two lectures aimed to help our Grade 12 candidates prepare better before the application season arrives. The first lecture was about college interviews. The speaker introduced the function of these interviews and used some examples to teach the students how to take the advantage of these few minutes to show their best side very briefly. After that, she invited one student to come up to the stage and have a mock interview. During this process, the speaker pointed out some details that students should pay more attention to. The second part was hosted by Ms. Zhang Nan, our college counselor. First, she introduced the material students should prepare for their college applications. And after that, she invited 7 mock admission officers to read some applicants’ material, to determine whether these applicants would be accepted. Through this activity, students were able to gain a rough idea of how to represent their best selves, and what kind of materials they should avoid submitting. We hope these two lectures helped the students a lot!
