English? History? Brain Storm? ------ Meet the 2017 “NOT Spelling Bee”

The journey to the 2017 Grade 9-10 spelling bee is a journey of competition, but also of discovery of the English language and literature; of brain storming about world history; of groupwork, and of the start of a brand new “Not Spelling Bee”. Involving more than just spelling, spellers and their classmates are separated into two big groups for the competition. Excitement and anticipation filled the auditorium as spellers chose the questions randomly based on their interest in different topics. The onstage competition began between spellers as well as the Wechat competition began between their classmates. The speller who gave the right answer would score points while the audience member who gave the right answer would get a gift. The “Not Spelling Bee” event inspired a love of language, history, learning and school life.
