Grade 7: A Polar Scientific Investigation

From May 6th to May 7th, 3 students from our school- 7(2) Brett, Ryan, and 7(4) Peter- attended the first ever Primary and Middle School section of a creative competition that is organized throughout the whole country. The whole competition proceeded in an innovative way, putting 32 teams randomly into 8 scientific investigation groups. Each group was made up of 1 high school team, 1 middle school team, and 2 primary school teams. The name of the team- Polaris- symbolizes the light that points the way for the polar scientific investigation teams. The students teamed up quickly, putting all their effort into this fun activity with excitement. First they put up a tent ‘in the South Pole’ in order to block out the cold and storms. Then they designed and assembled a snowfield transporter to carry 12 bottles of 380ML mineral water. Then they used a PM2.5 sensor to test air quality, and finally designed signal lights to bring in help.

Congratulations on the excellent performance of SHSID competitors.
