Hong Kong Mantas Invitational Swim Meet

During the Labor Day holiday weekend, we attended the Hong Kong Mantas Invitational Swim Meet with our school swim team. This is the 3rd year that we attended this meet with the SHSID Stallions, but this year we had crew in tow: about 50 swimmers! It was really fun to spend two days with our team mates, working hard and playing hard.

We competed in the 50M breaststroke, 100M breaststroke, 50M backstroke, 50M freestyle, 200M individual medley and two relays. The most exciting experience was the two relays. Annabel Cui, Daisy Xu and two of us were in the Girls 4*50 medley relay. We were the first two to go. After Daisy finished, it was clear that SHSID and the ‘Eagles’ from Beijing were competing for 3rd place. Annabel was ready to go. Everyone was so nervous and cheered as loud as we could for Annabel. We could hear our friends, coaches and parents from the stands. Annabel kept the lead and SHSID won 3rd place. The Stallions beat the Eagles!

This swim meet was such an unforgettable experience. We had our friends to swim together, to cheer for each other, and to support each other. We also want to deeply thank our 3 teachers who took us to this meet: teacher Yu, teacher Zhou and coach Jiang. To make sure we did not miss any of the events, teacher Yu and teacher Zhou stood at the marshaling spot all day for two days, to make sure every SHSID swimmer was there on time. Coach Jiang was running back and forth to give instructions to every swimmer. In addition, although coach Zhou and coach Chen did not go to the meet, we also want to thank them for the good training. Thank you to all the teachers and coaches, you are the best!

We already look forward to more competitions with our SHSID friends. We hope more and more students will join the swim team to train and compete with us. Go Stallions!
