SHSID 7th graders qualified for the FPSPI global round --To predict the better future together
SHSID 7th graders qualified for the FPSPI global round --To predict the better future together
The Future Problem Solving Program International (FPSPI) was created in 1974 in the United States, and has a huge impact in the world since. It is now popular in Australia, China, France, India, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Georgia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, England, and many other countries. The United States has brought this project to classrooms in more than 30 states.
The FPSPI competition is mainly an investigation towards critical thinking and team work. Each team is given a specific future scenario, and the group must identify the challenges it poses through critical thinking, then use the potential problems to come up with a solution, form a plan and bring it to action. At last, they must present their plan in an innovative way.
China first became involved with FPSPI in 2017. 50 teams from Shanghai have registered for the competition, and after an intense qualification round and alliance round, 6 teams of students from all age groups have qualified for the global final round. The SHSID team has become one of the strongest competitors in the Middle school section. Our team, composed of 7(2) Ethan, David, Maureen, and 7(10) Sofia, successfully got to the final round, and 7(4) Kaoru, will go for global "magic" challenge. Congratulations!
The FPSPI competition is highly regarded. Knowledge is endless, but the its fine points and processes are the precious path that guides us along our lifelong study. We belong to society, and communication and teamwork are the two great tools that we must carry with us when we face challenges. Every one of us is a citizen of the world, and the ability to have broad views and a sense of responsibility as global citizens is an important content of education. From June 6th to the 13th, in The University of Wisconsin, SHSID students will be predicting a better future with people all over the world! We wish them luck!
