Middle School Students Succeded in WSC
Middle School Students Succeded in WSC
AY YO SCHOLARS! I believe lot of scholars still remember this phrase. On April 22nd & 23rd, students from schools all across Shanghai attended the World Scholars Cup.
As scholars walked into the room, the WSC regional round officially begin!
The first event juniors faced was a Debate. After three rounds of exciting debates, every scholar learned how to improve somehow. No matter if you won or lollipopped the debate, the only thing that mattered was that the scholars enjoyed themselves.
The second event was writing. Scholars could pick their own topic out of 6 possible options. Every scholar had 30 minutes to do research, 45 minutes to write their essays, and 15 minutes to check their teammates’ essays. Even though 45 minutes sounds long, every scholar tried to write as fast as they could.
The third event was the “Scholars’ Challenge”. The scholars received a packet that contains 120 multiple choice questions, and they needed to finish it in 60 minutes. After the challenge, you could see how they did by looking at their expressions.
The last event was the “Scholars’ Bowl”. Every team received a clicker, and needed to select the correct answer. After the “Scholars’ Bowl”, the scholars each adopted an alpaca and swore an oath.
The World Scholars Cup is famous for not only its academic events, but also its entertaining shows. Scholars can show off their talents in the Talent Show! The audience started clapping, waving their flashlights and alpacas.
Last but not least, the most exciting time finally arrived: the award ceremony! Our school received many medals and trophies, so congratulations to the medalists and the teams that qualified for the global round!
