7th and 8th Graders Succeeded in History Bowl & Bee

April 16th seemed like another normal day, but on this day, students from international schools all over Shanghai (and one even from Suzhou) gathered in SHSID to compete in the IHBB Asia Shanghai Regional Bee and Bowl. The IHBB Asia Bee and Bowl, more commonly known as the History Bee and Bowl, is a series of competitions involving teams and individual students competing with one another in fields relating to history and of course, in history itself. This could mean anything can be tested, from French philosophers to temples dedicated to Shiva, from baseball to Francisco Pizarro.

In the morning, an organizer from the committee delivered an opening speech, and shortly afterwards, the students set off for various rooms in order to compete with other contestants. After the first two bowl (team) rounds, the competition switched to the bee (individual) rounds. More bowl rounds then commenced after three bee rounds and a lengthy lunch break. Then, the finals came. Talented students competed energetically, answering one question after another. The competition was extremely intense, but the competition came to a spectacular finish.

In the end, SHSID came to dominate the middle school section. Congratulations to SHSID Team E and Team D, with Calvin Pan, Jack Lee, Kenneth Shen, and Oliver Ni for taking the championships for the team rounds and Toby Chan, Ethan Wang, Brandon Wu, Lawrence Zhang and Richard Zhang for taking third in the bowl, and to Oliver Ni, Calvin Pan, and Toby Chan for making it into the top three individually! Congratulations!
