Grade 8: STEM Program Lecture

On April 20th, 2017, several organizers of the National Youth Leadership Explore STEM program of Emory University came to our school, and gave an introduction to this complex yet interesting program.

First, one of the organizers introduced to us what STEM is– Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, which encourages students to become better rounded in all fields. Then she more explicitly explained the uniqueness of the program in Emory University which is one of the top universities for scientific research. Many activities are included, such as hands-on activities like building robots to bio experiments conducted using the top facilities in the world. There are even segments in which participants get to interact with former NASA cosmonaut Jerry M. Linenger, who survived one of the greatest catastrophes in American space history, and also a chance to visit the headquarters of Coca Cola and CNN.

Overall, the program allows students to learn how to cooperate with each other, how to become better in many different fields, and how to become better leaders.
