Grade 11: Global Citizen Day - Second Day @ Wusi Farm

On the second day of the GCD, students were scheduled to wake up at 6:30 AM. Around 6:50 AM, the fire drill took place. The training smokes were lit in the hallways. Thanks to instruction given on the previous night, the students were able to evacuate from the building in less than 4 minutes.

After breakfast, students were taken to farms to take part in the main activity. Students learned how to use various farming tools. Students expressed their passion through successive cycles of lifts and strikes of the tools into the soil. They softened the land first and spread the seeds. Then they sprayed water all over the land. Although our students won’t be able to see the product of their labor, it was a worthwhile experience.

The next event scheduled for students of the GCD experience was rope making. Sitting alongside the road, students learned of how to create traditional ropes using rice stems. It was a great experience.

Afterwards, each class had some free time to take class photos with their teachers and trainers. Each class chose different but great backgrounds for their photo shoots. It was the end of the GCD experience. Students worked together to the end and cleaned their rooms. Then they went back on the bus and traveled back to SHSID.

Overall, the Wusi farm was an unforgettable experience.
