Grade 11: Global Citizen Day - Volunteer's Report

A special team among the volunteer students participated in Global Citizen Day. Let’s see what they felt about this event:

The two-day Global Citizen Day experience was amazing. When my teacher told us we were going to experience farming life, I was surprised. But it was better than I expected. We had relatively nice living conditions to live together with our friends in a dorm. Probably it was the first time of many of the students experienced dorm life. There was also the beautiful rural environment, with much cleaner air than Shanghai, and brighter stars in the sky.

I did not volunteer last year take part in the ‘Oriental Green Land’ activity, so I wanted to do it this time. I signed up for both the cafeteria job, and the night patrol position. We met our first challenge after the dumpling meal. Besides all the left-over dumplings in the plates, there were also a lot of dumpling pieces on the table and on the floor, so it was a lot of work. But we worked. We lifted our sleeves up and began. With great team effort, we finished in less than half an hour. It was really fun to be in a different position and look at things differently. I learned a lot. I want to give special thanks to all the volunteers. They all did great jobs. I wish we could have more events and experience like the GCD.
