SHSID Students Won the National Gold Award in CTB Competition

China Thinks Big, commonly referred to as CTB, is China's largest high school student research competition. Started and sponsored by professors in Harvard University and Tsinghua University in 2012, along with the professors in Yale, Stanford, MIT, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and other top institutions, CTB designed more than 100 research topics for Chinese high school students. In the form of online challenge, live debate, Q&A and North American tour show etc., CTB searches for independent learning ability, unique way of thinking and unique practice in outstanding high school students, and help them achieve their dreams of venturing into top universities all over the world.

In March 2017, the 5th China Thinks Big national finals were successfully held in Beijing and Shanghai. More than 1,000 teams from more than 300 top high schools all over China participated in the 1st round of the competition in late 2016. More than 60 SHSID students participated in the 1st round of the competition, and 10 teams made into the national finals. After fierce competition, SHSID eventually won a national gold award (only one gold award in Shanghai), a national bronze award (only 3 bronze awards in Shanghai), a national 1st prize (top 5% of all teams in final round), a national 3rd prize (top 10% of all teams in final round), and lastly 2 best team marathons. Congratulations to all the students who have paid the effort and have grown in the competition and gained valuable life lessons and experience.

In addition, there is an 11th grade student team that is nominated for the North American roadshow. They will represent SHSID and head to Harvard University, MIT University and other American schools in late April. They will present their research results directly to the professors at these top universities and have a chance to get feedbacks from the experts in the academic fields. We wish them good luck and success during the roadshow.
