Puxi Grade 2: We are Junior Doctors

Class 2(3) visited the Shanghai American-Sino Women’s & Children’s Hospital on April 18th. The hospital staff prepared a fantastic workshop for the kids.

There were 4 stations in all: measuring pulse and heart beats, CPR, dealing with wounds, and x-rays and ultrasound. Each one lasted 15 minutes.

For the first three stations, nurses prepared related medical items and showed steps to students. Students also pretended to deal with different medical accidents. For example, nurses taught students how to clean wounds and wrap bandages. Nurses used a dummy model to demonstrate pressing hearts and artificial respiration. Students also learnt information about body bones and baby’s movements from the x-ray and ultrasound activity.

This workshop lasted about one hour. Students retained knowledge about a lot about ways to save lives. Hopefully they will be able to help save others’ lives in the future!
