Grade 8: Music for Patient (MFP) charity mini-concert in Shanghai Children's Medical Center Outpatie

On the afternoon of April 14th, the Grade 8 Service Learning Project, Music for Patients (MFP) members offered a special Easter mini concert in the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center (SCMC) Outpatient Hall. Since its inception last semester, the group now has a total of 20 members. This is the MFP team’s first activity in this semester and the second time they performed in the SCMC. SCMC’s Deputy Director Professor Ji, Dept. Director Dr Chen, Parson’s Music Group East China General Manager Mr. Jason Wu, and SHSID Wind Orchestra Director Mr Li Xin attended the concert.

Kingsley Poon from 8(2) and team members designed a new repertoire and added some other musical instruments to their performance. The clarinet, saxophone and guitar made their debut this time. Masterpieces by Mozart, Bach, Debussy, Handel, Saint-Saens and Faure were all perfectly interpreted by these young musicians. All children reveled in the beautiful melodies of classic and popular music. Some of them were clapping their hands or even singing and dancing with the melody. The last song “Twinkle Little Star” went down especially well. Almost all of people applauded the chorus. The outpatient hall filled with a warm, harmonious and peaceful atmosphere.

After the concert, the team members visited the ward with specially prepared gifts. They encouraged those hospitalized children to face their illnesses with a positive attitude, wished them speedy recovery.
