Grade 9-10: the First District Interact Conference in China at SHSID

On April 3rd , the Interact Club of SHSID successfully hosted the first District Interact Conference in China. Interactors from 8 schools took part: SAS Pudong, Shanghai Nanyang Model School, SCIS Hongqiao, SHSID, Shanghai Experimental Foreign Language School, SMIC Private School, Kang Chiao International School, and Jia Xiang International High School. In toal over 100 students gathered at SHSID.

Interact Club is a service club for young people aged 12 to 18 who want to connect with people from other Interact Clubs locally and internationally and have fun while serving their communities and learning about the world.

During the morning session, we did several teambuilding activities to get every attendee to know each other. It was all about great team work. During the Origami Mosaic activity, people folded cranes to stick on the poster board forming a Rotary motto. In the True-or-False game people were questioned with Interact Club-related knowledge, and in the hula-hoop pass game two teams lined up hand-in-hand to pass a hula hoop to strengthen the bonds between people. The 5 people 6-legged race was all about building trust. The last activity was a folk dance in which all the attendees lined up in a circle to dance the Finnish Jenka. Every activity involved teaching, communicating, and supporting.

In the afternoon session, every club leader presented and shared their own club activities. Their activities included visiting to a nursing house, an orphanage, helping establish libraries at local primary schools, attending charity sports events, school charity fairs, etc. This session provided a platform for members from different clubs to learn and to share the activities with each other.

At last, there were wonderful musical performances from different Interact Club members.

Everyone is welcomed to join the Interact Club to step on a platform where each person shares their positive energy and helps the world to become a better place.
