Grade6: Charity Day Events

This year the annual Charity Day for fifth and sixth graders falls on Thursday, April 6th. As usual, three independent activities will be held, including a Charity Fair, a Charity Concert, and Charity Sports.

The week before, our teachers were choosing volunteers for each of these activities. Many of us raised our hands eagerly, cheerfully vying for the opportunity. I myself volunteered to perform in the Charity Concert, representing my classroom. Thanks to the enthusiasm shown by the students, the annual Charity Day was getting off to a good start.

The Charity activities started in the afternoon.

As soon as the bells rang, students rushed out of their classrooms straight to the Charity Fair in the local cafeteria, wanting to be the first to buy the charity items. The cafeteria was jam-packed with people. There were students, there were teachers and there were parents. There were a lot of bargains, and people were happy doing buying and selling. The atmosphere was lively and full of excitement.

All the shops had items that were very creative, and there were even some activities. There were different types of snacks and candies, toys and stuffed animals; but on top of all, the games were very fun. For example, you can use a ring to toss bottles, and you might win a big prize! There were also some lucky draws.

Last of all, we had the pie throwing activity! This activity allows you to throw a pie on the teachers’ face. You can put in tickets if you want to get the chance to pie-your-teacher.

At the same time, in the auditorium in the Music Hall, the Charity Concert was taking place too. The young performers, myself included, were sitting on their chairs, waiting for their turns to perform. While we are waiting, a bit nervously, I may say, we saw parents and fellow students pouring in. The performance included piano solos, singing, flutes, and even trumpets! As each of us performed, we heard our classmate yelling out our names, cheering us on, showing solidarity. What a wonderful experience.

In the other part of the campus, the Charity Sports drew no less of a crowd. There were four events: running, push-ups, sit-ups and rope skipping. The students participating in running all ran as fast as they could, trying to catch the leading car. Those taking part in the push-up event were all giving their best to try to do 100 push-ups. This was the spirit of sport in full display.

When the charity activities come to a close later in the afternoon, we all felt happy and proud, not only because we raised a good sum of money which can be used to help many children less fortunate than us, but also through this we deepened our sense of mutual support and solidarity. We are all looking forward to the next Charity Activities.
