Puxi Grade 1-4: Shanghai Museum Scavenger Hunt
Puxi Grade 1-4: Shanghai Museum Scavenger Hunt
Week 7 is Chinese Culture Week in the Primary Section. To get a better understanding of Chinese civilization, students were taken to visit Shanghai Museum on March 30th.
As a museum of ancient Chinese art, Shanghai museum possesses a collection of 120,000 precious works of art, with 11 galleries and three special temporary exhibition halls. Our students were amazed by its rich and high-quality collection of Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy. It's just like a huge book to tell you the history of China.
Before going to the museum, students were given a scavenger hunt sheet, with treasure including: an artifact more than 1000 years old, a religious artifact that people would use when they pray, and an artifact from the ‘BC’ part of the world history, an artifact that came from Shanghai, and an artifact you think your teacher would like. With these tasks, students were busy taking notes and were more engaged with the museum and its exhibits.
Visiting the museum was not only beneficial for broadening their horizons, but also increased their interest in history. We hope this trip enabled students to learn more about China’s extensive and profound civilization, and enjoy themselves in the Week of Chinese Culture.
