Puxi Grade 2 : Chinese Culture Week - Ancient Poetry Competition

After an interesting Dr. Seuss week, it is now Chinese Culture Week. Chinese culture has lasted a long time. Ancient poetry plays an important role in Chinese culture. After thousands of years, nowadays students still learn ancient poetry and enjoy its charm.

On Monday, March 27th, Grade 2 students had an ancient poetry competition. In fact, they received a poetry booklet about one month ago and recited from it everyday. There were three types of questions in the competition. They were related to poetry itself, the poets, and the titles of the poems. All students were very excited and performed very well in the competition. Most of them answered the questions quickly and accurately. Each class had several winners.

This competition covered lots of content. It included different poets and various themes. However competitions are not just about selecting winners– the process of preparing and taking part was great for the students. This competition encouraged them all to learn more about ancient Chinese culture and enjoy poetry’s charm.
