Grade 7: Lecture about Children Safety

On Thursday, March 23rd, all the 7th grade students went to the Primary School auditorium during their CAS class to participate in a lecture about child safety. The lecture was made by child safety expert Mr. Lu from Bestway Education and Eagles Camp.

Mr. Lu first started the lecture by telling us two things that happened this week. One was about a primary school student in Shanghai that choked on a small meatball, but no one knew how to help him, and he died because he wasn’t able to breathe. The second thing was a panic-stricken stampede that happened in a primary school in China, when kids rushed on the stairs and pushed each other, which caused many injuries and even death. After explaining these two accidents, Mr. Lu told students in details about how to protect themselves in those kinds of situations. He showed us pictures of how to curl yourself up and protect your head during a panic-stricken stampede and the actions we should take when saving ourselves or others from choking. Mr. Lu also showed the students what to do by doing it himself and asking students to come on stage to present fellow students with good and bad examples of the actions. Finally, Mr. Lu told students that the most important point is to avoid doing dangerous things and always remember safety first.

The students all learned how to protect themselves from danger after listening to Mr Lu’s informative and interesting lecture, but they also hoped that they would never face those dangers and never need to use the self-protection techniques.
