Puxi Grade 3: Reading Bingo

Shakespeare said: a life without books is like a life without sunlight; wisdom without books is like a wingless bird. March is Reading Encouragement Month for third grade. To encourage students to read more books, we passed out a reading bingo board to every student, on which there are five rows of five grids. Each grid includes one kind of books, such as Dr. Seuss books, mystery books, books with female authors, poetry, picture books, comedies, and books recommended by a friend. Kids can select different books to read in light of their interest. As long as they finish reading books horizontally, vertically, or diagonally on the bingo board, they can receive a prize from their teachers. If they complete the entire bingo board, they will get to choose a book for free.

Unlike a reading competition, Reading Bingo gives kids more freedom in their choice of books. Nobody will force them to read books they dislike, and there’s no need to compete with others. Everyone can obtain prizes as long as they set a goal and achieve it. This activity caters to the needs of more students, and through it they become more engaged and enthusiastic about reading books. We hope that our students can fall in love with reading and let books become their best friends!
