Puxi Primary Section: Poetry Conference

Week 7 is SHSID’s Chinese Culture week. On Monday, our third and fourth graders finally said hello to their Poetry Conference in the Primary School’s Auditorium.

Every class had decided the champion of poetry in Week 6. So, 12 champions attended the conference wearing their Chinese costumes. The Conference was divided into five rounds. Third graders were paired with fourth graders into six teams of two, and were challenged to answer questions together in order. If they got the correct answer, they could get points. But if they got the wrong answer, they could not get points.

At the end, all of the Chinese teachers played a traditional Chinese poetry game called Feihualing. The topic word was 月 (yuè), which means the moon. All the teachers did brilliantly, telling many poems about the moon. The students clapped for them.

Poetry is like the warm wind in spring that plants a seed in students’ hearts. The Poetry Conference was for students to enjoy the charm of poetry and learn more about Chinese culture.
