Grade 9: VR Company Visit

On March 16th, one student from each Grade 9 class got the opportunity to come to an interesting company visit to the VR development team at the SOHO office buildings beside The Bund. Some students had already heard of Virtual Reality technology, while others were stepping into unknown territory. When the students arrived at the offices, they were stunned by the concentration of the employees while also feeling interested in the software the workers were building. Once the basics of VR had been explained to them, the students were set free to explore the applications that the team had produced. The HTC Vive, a virtual reality hardware engine, was the main machine they played around with, along with games and software like The Lab, VR Funhouse, Google GlowPainter, and the Out-of-the-Blue, a brand new application designed for the real estate business. At the end of the day, the students concluded that they had gained a lot of knowledge and experience relating to the VR industry. All in all, they managed to have fun while learning about VR research, development, and the technology.
