Grade 9:Visiting the Chang Qiao Elder's Home
Grade 9:Visiting the Chang Qiao Elder's Home
On Monday, March 20th, a group of ninth and tenth graders took time off 5th period PE class to visit the Chang Qiao Elders’ Home. They got on the school bus at 1 pm and arrived after a short 5 minute ride. Led by the nurse, the students toured the elders’ home and knocked on every door, giving snacks and towels to the elders. The elders were delighted to see so many friendly young faces. They received the goodies with big bright smiles on their faces. With everybody pitching in to help, all the goods were distributed in half an hour. After taking a group photo in front of the elders’ home, the students hopped on the bus and got back to school in time for the next period. Sometimes, the simplest things can make someone happy. For the students, the task was not difficult, yet they were able to add a splash of joy to the elders' day. Community service is a great way to give back to society. By helping out at the elders’ home, not only did the students bring happiness to the elders, they also experienced happiness themselves.
