Grade 11: The Visit of Shanghai Surveying and Mapping Institute
Grade 11: The Visit of Shanghai Surveying and Mapping Institute
On March 15th, the technicians from the Shanghai Surveying and Mapping Institute joined in our Pi Day activity during CAS periods. They were here aiming to help students more aware about Surveying and Mapping and cultivating their interests in Maths and Mapping. They provided two different platforms, one was a lecture and the other was a chance to inspect some surveying instruments.
In the lecture, the presenter began with the advertising video “Youth in Surveying and Mapping”, showing the basics of modern surveying and mapping. During the lecture, students learned how Maths serves Surveying and Mapping as well how Surveying and Mapping serve city construction. The activity attracted more students to inspect the surveying instruments. Students watched the technician operating a UAV drone used in Surveying, and some students got a chance to fly in themselves. They were very excited about that. During the activity, students were interested in learning the newest techniques in the industry, asking questions actively, while the technicians answers their question patiently.
Through these two periods, students learned a great deal about this unfamiliar area. A big thank you to SSMI to provide us with such a vivid class.
